Dear Edmund,
I offered my life for you because I've had many years of it. You Edmund has only had few years. I want you to live through memories after memories. I've lived through plenty anyway, my time is to come. If my life is taken for yours, you'd must stay with your siblings.
In other words perhaps your friends and other family would miss you. Your siblings would have to make a great heartbreaking lie to everyone. Here in Narnia my world depends on me. They all wouldn't be surprised if this is to happen.
